The Crusaders who fought in the Holy Wars werent all trained in combat. In fact, many of the people in the crusades were mere villagers. These are the weapons the Crusaders and Saracens used to spill the blood of their enemies.
Longsword:
This weapon was one of the most commonly used.
The blades in most cases were sharped on both sides, for maximum damage.
The blade was around 1-3 feet long.
It weighed anywhere from around 5-8 lbs, depending on the metal used.
The handle is long enough to weild with one or two hands.
This weapon was sharp enough to separate limbs off the opponents body.
Crossbow:
The crossbow was another common weapon used in the crusades.
It was constructed from Elm, Yew, or other trees around Europe.
The weapon shot short arrows called "Blots"
The Bolts fired form this weapon had the capability to impale its target.
The weapon is about 2-3 feet long, and generally light weight.
These weapons had a slow fire rate, But had much better accuracy than a tradional Bow and Arrow.
Scimitar:
The Christians enemies the Saracens used this weapon.
Smaller than a Longsword, Light, about 1- 2 1/2 feet.
The blade Was easily capable of dismembering a body part.
This weapon was used mostly on horseback, which made it twice as lethal.
The blades were either short in width and cruvedm Or wide in width and sharply curved.
Mace:
The mace was a weapon used to bludgeon an enemy.
The mace could be as short as 1 foot, or as long as 5 feet in length.
Ath the top of the metal rod is either a ball with short, or long studs; just a ball; Or another shape such as layers of metal or triangular.
This weapon would be either light around 2-5 lbs or heavy as 10 - 15 lbs.
The mace would commonly be affective against armor, for it could dent it or penetrate it causing more lethal damge.
Battle Axe:
The battle axe was a feirce weapon!
The blade could be double sided or single sided.
These weapons were capable of penetrating armor and dismembering your head.
This was a heavy weapon weighing around 10 - 30 lbs.
It required 2 hands to swing this weapon, but could easily stop a horse.
Spear:
The spear was a long light weight weapon used to stab the enemy.
The spear in most cases was generally a long wooden / Metal staff with a sharp peice of metal or blade at the end.
This weapon couls stab through a mans chest, or be swung to knock an enemy back.
The Spear weighed only 2-6 lbs depending on the tip used at the end.
Quarterstaff:
The purpose of this weapon was to knock you over.
